The Morton Museum of Collierville History is housed in a Gothic Revival church built in 1873, one of the town's most distinctive landmarks. The building served as the home of the Collierville Christian Church until 1992, gaining its stained-glass windows, bell tower, and decorative carpentry during a 1906 renovation that gave it its current character, including the two-story corner tower that once held the largest bell in Shelby County. Morgan Morton and his family gifted the building and grounds to the Town of Collierville in 2008, and after several years of community fundraising and volunteer work, the museum opened in June 2012. Today the museum collects, preserves, and interprets Collierville's history through a permanent exhibition space, rotating temporary exhibits, a community art gallery, and a reading room, all set within the historic sanctuary's stained-glass backdrop. The building is also available for private event rentals, giving weddings, ceremonies, and receptions an intimate, historic setting just minutes from Historic Downtown Collierville.
