The Museum of Early Trades & Crafts occupies Madison's first public library building, a Richardsonian Romanesque Revival structure donated by D. Willis James in 1900. The historic interior features stained glass windows, richly detailed woodwork, and three elaborately decorated fireplaces — a distinctive setting for intimate private events in Madison, NJ. Two spaces are available for rental. The main museum building at 9 Main Street accommodates up to 50 guests across two levels of exhibits devoted to 18th- and 19th-century craftsmanship. The adjacent Education Annex at 23 Main Street offers Renaissance Revival architecture with high ceilings and generous natural light, suited for receptions, workshops, fundraisers, and community gatherings of up to 75. Tables and chairs are included with both spaces; catering and bar service are arranged through the renter's preferred vendors.
