Navajo Lake State Park encompasses New Mexico's second-largest reservoir, set in the high desert near Navajo Dam at elevations ranging from 5,600 to 6,600 feet. The park spreads across two main recreation areas — Pine Recreation Area and Sims Mesa — each offering developed campgrounds, full-service marinas, boat ramps, and visitor centers with interpretive exhibits. More than 240 developed campsites, including electric and full hookup options, serve overnight guests, and group picnic shelters provide covered gathering space for day events and outdoor celebrations. Four miles of trails wind through the park's rugged mesa terrain, while the lake supports boating, fishing, scuba diving, and swimming throughout the season. The nearby San Juan River corridor, renowned as one of the Southwest's premier fly-fishing destinations, adds a distinctive scenic backdrop to any gathering held within the park.
