The Neill-Cochran House Museum is an 1856 Greek Revival mansion built by local builder Abner Cook, standing as one of Austin's oldest residences. Owned and operated by the National Society of the Colonial Dames of America in Texas since 1958, the museum preserves more than a century of Austin history — from its years as a school for the Blind and a Civil War-era hospital to four generations of the Cochran family's residence — and is home to the only intact slave quarters still standing in the city. The historic house and grounds are available for private event rental, offering an indoor venue for gatherings of up to 50 guests and an outdoor venue for receptions and ceremonies of up to 200. Complimentary furnishings are included for events up to 85 guests, and the property has onsite parking for 40 vehicles. Just minutes from the University of Texas campus, downtown Austin, and MoPac, the museum suits wedding receptions, board retreats, professional seminars, and other social gatherings, with its 19th-century architecture and period furnishings lending a distinctive backdrop.
