About Presidio Chapel at the Presidio by Wedgewood Weddings
Take a trip through time! The Presidio chapel is the ideal location for your emotional I do. The photo options on the front steps and out on the tiled garden patio are fantastic. A vaulted redwood sanctuary with elegant stained-glass windows and historic fixtures, this whitewashed chapel is a vaulted redwood sanctuary with attractive stained-glass windows and historic fixtures. The Presidio Chapel is a stunning and inspiring place for special events, with a breathtaking view of San Francisco Bay. The Mural Room, which is close to the sanctuary and provides a view of the hillside, is ideal for a private event. A flower-lined memorial garden is the perfect spot for photos, gathering before a service, or hosting a standing reception outside. The Presidio Chapel is near the Inn at the Presidio, the Golden Gate Club, the Observation Post, the Officers' Club, and The Palm Room on the Main Post, the Presidio's cultural core. This venue is only available with a Log Cabin or Golden Gate Club reservation. The Presidio Chapel boasts a number of distinctive elements that draw history and art enthusiasts from all over the world. St Francis of Assisi (the namesake of San Francisco) is depicted alongside many historical personalities who helped develop the present stronghold on this site in Victor Arnautoff's famed fresco, which was produced in 1935. The fresco was painted before the iconic Golden Gate Bridge, and you can see the Army Corps of Engineers debating the ideas on the right side of the wall. Willemina Ogterop (1881-1974), the first woman stained-glass artist west of the Mississippi to be inducted into the Stained Glass Artists Guild, designed the remarkable stained-glass windows. Ogterop was a multiculturalist who was involved in a number of peace and humanitarian groups and believed that everyone should practice compassion, which is a philosophy that many SF couples adhere to. A visit to the Presidio Chapel is a necessity because of these little-known artistic gems. If you are getting married or arranging an event, you will want to take a tour of this lovely specimen of Spanish Revival architecture and learn about its secrets! The Presidio event venues tours last about an hour, and you will get a behind-the-scenes look at many of the famed fortress sites.
