Roan Mountain State Park

Roan Mountain State Park sits along the Doe River in the Highlands of Roan, with mountaintop views, hiking and mountain bike trails, and access to the Appalachian Trail via Carver's Gap. In early summer, the park's rhododendron shrubs come into bloom, adding color to the surrounding wooded landscape. For gatherings and celebrations, the park offers a mix of indoor and outdoor venues. The Conference Center provides an indoor space for up to 150 guests, with a catering kitchen, a large stone fireplace, and mountain views, and can be rented as one large room or split into two private conference rooms. Outdoors, the Amphitheater seats up to 100 guests amid wooded surroundings, three pavilions accommodate smaller gatherings of 30 to 100 with picnic tables and grills, and the Chestnut Ridge Overlook offers sweeping views of the Highlands for a more intimate setting. Guests can extend their stay in one of the park's thirty two-bedroom, one-bath cabins, or in its RV and tent camping areas.
