Rockhurst Farm

Rockhurst Farm is a 400-acre working farm and event property in Wilsonville, Alabama, situated in Shelby County off Highway 280 East, about 30 minutes from Interstate 459. Originally acquired in 1992 as a personal retreat by Dr. John and Nona Hurst, the land served as a hobby farm where the family farmed and discovered historic artifacts from a native Creek campground and a Civil War camp on the property. After building the Reception Pavilion in 2012 for their daughters' wedding, the Hursts launched Rockhurst Farm Weddings and Events in 2015. The farm is a registered Treasured Forest property with 80 acres designated for weddings and events. Ceremony and reception spaces include the Rockhurst Chapel — a custom sanctuary with 20 white pews seating 200 or more guests with views of an adjacent pond — the open-air Reception Pavilion, and a manicured field centered on a 150-year-old great oak tree that accommodates tent setups for any size event. Nona Hurst brings expertise as a floral designer and master gardener, and Dr. Hurst is a master beekeeper who has maintained bees on the property for nearly four decades. The barn adjacent to the event spaces provides three restrooms (one ADA-approved), two dressing areas, and a caterer's prep kitchen, with all areas ADA-compliant.
