Sandy Spring Museum was built in 1997 to a design inspired by historic structures that still stand in the community. Our indoor spaces feature lots of natural light and exposed wood, and our grounds have formal garden spaces, open lawns, and large areas of woodland. In addition to being a history museum, we are also one of Maryland's Regional Folklife Centers, and pride ourselves on being accommodating of traditions than many other venues can't or won't accommodate. We also have close partnerships with a great number of cultural practitioners who we're happy to connect you with to help make your event one that all your guests will remember.

A 7-hour package rate for any of our Major spaces (Dr. Bird Room, Exhibit Hall, Courtyard, East or South Lawn, or Willow Grove Cultural Commons). Chair and table setup is taken care of in advance by museum staff to a layout you approve. Public areas of the museum are open for guests to enjoy even if they are not rented.
Our minimum rental for our Major spaces is $940.00 for 4 hours. This fee includes tables and chairs (which will be set up in advance of your arrival). All public exhibit spaces not rented to other clients will be open for your guests to enjoy during your rental. Fees are discounted for non-profit organizations.
Community rentals are available for residents who live within 6 miles as the crow flies from the museum building. Community rentals are $30 per hour between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM Monday-Friday, and $60.00 per hour at all other times. Community rentals are limited to events of 40 persons or fewer and 4 hours or less. On-site catering is not allowed, but you may have food delivered. All setup and break down must be done by rental clients. Community Rentals are only allowed in the Willow Grove Cultural Commons.
