Sea Star Base Galveston

Sea Star Base Galveston is a nonprofit maritime and aquatics campus set on 10 acres along Offatt's Bayou and Galveston Bay, founded by Captain Charles and Rosemary Doolin as a sailing center that grew into a full waterfront complex. The LEED Platinum-certified, fully handicapped-accessible facility includes a fleet of 39 boats, a seagoing classroom, a swimming pool, and a modern marina, alongside its mission to deliver marine, maritime, and aquatics-based education for youth and adults. The campus doubles as an event venue for weddings, corporate gatherings, and community celebrations. Couples can exchange vows in an open-air chapel overlooking the marinas of Offatt's Bayou, while The Commodore banquet hall offers floor-to-ceiling views of Galveston Bay, where dolphins can often be spotted in the water, for dinners, dances, and galas. Three additional conference rooms overlook the bayou for meetings and retreats. In 2020, the venue was named Best Venue in Galveston County by the Galveston Daily News Reader's Choice awards.
