Sherrill's Inn is a registered historic property in Fairview, North Carolina, minutes from Asheville. Built in 1845 on land that John Ashworth first settled around 1801, the inn was enlarged by Bedford Sherrill in 1834 to serve travelers crossing Hickory Nut Gap — a waystation for stagecoach passengers and livestock drovers that drew prominent guests including President Millard Fillmore in 1854 and Mary Ann Morrison, who later became the second wife of Stonewall Jackson. Today the property operates as a private event venue, hosting weddings and special occasions across several distinct outdoor spaces. The Ceremony Field offers a manicured lawn framed by towering trees with a natural stage; the Boxwood Yard is enclosed by meticulously groomed hedges; the expansive Reception Field spans 75 by 225 feet with a bandstand; and the Covered Porch overlooks the grounds. The historic house interior includes preparation rooms and a library available to wedding parties. The inn welcomes events year-round, combining two centuries of mountain hospitality with the quiet character of the Blue Ridge foothills.
