Singer Castle on Dark Island is a 28-room historic castle situated on its own island in the St. Lawrence River, in New York's Thousand Islands region. Built between 1903 and 1905 for Frederick Gilbert Bourne — fifth president of the Singer Sewing Machine Company — the castle was designed by architect Ernest Flagg and modeled after a Scottish castle from Sir Walter Scott's novel *Woodstock*. The property features a five-story clock tower with four six-foot clock faces and Westminster chimes, underground tunnels, secret passages, and Italian hand-carved furnishings throughout. Singer Castle hosts weddings, receptions, meetings, seminars, conferences, and private parties for groups of up to 150 guests. Wedding ceremonies take place in the Rose Garden, beneath a covered back pergola, or on the manicured castle grounds, with catering options ranging from simple champagne-and-cake service to multi-course dinners. The venue arranges shuttle access via local tour boat companies and provides complimentary private boat docking. Overnight accommodations are available in the Royal Suite — a private castle wing for up to six guests, including catered dinner, continental breakfast, and an extended private tour.
