The Altamont Theater

The Altamont Theatre is a live music, wedding, and private event venue situated on Church Street in the heart of downtown Asheville's Historic District. Built in 1895 and restored after decades of vacancy, the building is the first fully LEED certified renovation in downtown Asheville and received the 2011 Griffin Award for Adaptive Re-Use. It has been named Best Listening Room in the WNC Awards across multiple years — a reflection of acoustics that serve private events and performances equally well. The main theatre accommodates 150 seated guests in theatre-style general admission rows, or 210 for standing receptions. The lower level houses a full bar stocked with local craft beers, wine, and a full liquor selection, plus dressing rooms, a greenroom, and restrooms. Six furnished condo suites on the upper floors provide on-site overnight accommodation for wedding parties and guests. The venue is wheelchair accessible throughout, with elevator access between levels.
