The Artichoke Café

The Artichoke Cafe has been a fixture in Albuquerque's East Downtown neighborhood since 1989, when founders Pat and Terry Keene opened the restaurant on the edge of what would become the Huning Highland District. Pat, trained in New York City, serves as executive chef; Terry brings decades of restaurant management experience. Together they built a kitchen around local, seasonal, and organic ingredients at a time when that approach was still rare in Albuquerque, helping to establish seasonal menus and sustainable sourcing as part of the city's culinary conversation. The restaurant's wine program has earned recognition from Wine Spectator, and the full bar offers custom cocktail menus for private events. For groups, The Artichoke Cafe offers two private dining rooms — one seating 20 guests and one seating 40 — that can open to each other to accommodate parties of up to 60. Buyouts of additional spaces, including the patio, bar and lounge, and main dining room, are also available. Events are supported with A/V equipment, a private parking lot with attendant, and flexible menu formats including prix-fixe, passed canapés, buffets, and bar packages.
