The Astor and Joe's Pub

Located within the iconic Public Theater, The Astor is a downtown tavern where dining, cocktails, and performance come together under one roof. Inspired by old New York charm and designed by legendary designer Serge Becker, the space honors The Public Theater's rich cultural legacy while offering a warm, sophisticated setting for unforgettable private events. The Astor is the latest chapter in the nearly three-decade partnership between NoHo Hospitality and The Public Theater, which began with the opening of the legendary Joe's Pub in 1998. Featuring a striking 360° bar, an upright piano, and flexible lounge seating, the venue seamlessly transforms for celebrations of every style, accommodating up to 175 guests for cocktail receptions or 120 guests for seated dinners. Our culinary program, led by award-winning chef and partner Andrew Carmellini, showcases seasonal, family-style menus designed for sharing. Cocktail receptions feature passed hors d'oeuvres, Chef's Market Tables, and optional warm stations, while seated dinners offer three- or four-course chef's menus with the option to begin with passed canapés. Each menu is thoughtfully curated by our culinary team and paired with a refined, classic cocktail program. For larger celebrations, Joe's Pub offers one of New York City's most iconic event settings. Renowned for its intimate stage and celebrated history of live performance, the venue blends exceptional dining with world-class entertainment, accommodating up to 183 guests seated or 200+ guests standing. Events may also extend into The Lobby, creating a dynamic indoor reception space for up to 300 guests. Whether hosting an intimate dinner, company celebration, wedding, or full-venue buyout, The Astor and Joe's Pub deliver an experience that is distinctly New York—where exceptional hospitality, acclaimed cuisine, and the city's vibrant performing arts culture come together to create truly memorable events.
