The Boise Depot is a historic Spanish-style train station built in 1925 and designed by New York architects for the Union Pacific Railroad. Operated today by Boise Parks and Recreation, the landmark structure serves as a public ceremonial and event venue on a hillside overlooking downtown Boise, Idaho. At the heart of the Depot is the Great Hall, the building's original waiting room — a soaring 3,542-square-foot atrium framed by Spanish trusses with antique locomotive designs, arched windows, and original 1925 details including the Barkalow Brothers Newsstand and ten historic benches. The Great Hall accommodates up to 300 guests for standing receptions and 165 for seated dinners or ceremonies. The Depot grounds include the Platt Gardens and North Plaza, extending the venue's reach outdoors for ceremonies and celebrations. Rentals include dedicated event coordinator support and access to the building's full historic character. The Depot has hosted weddings, galas, private dinners, and civic celebrations for nearly a century, making it one of Boise's most distinctive event addresses.
