The Bronx Museum of the Arts is a contemporary art museum founded in 1971 by Bronx community advocates, situated on the Grand Concourse in the South Bronx. For more than fifty years, the museum has connected diverse audiences to the urban experience through its permanent collection, special exhibitions, and education programs that reflect the borough's dynamic communities. The museum has long centered the work of artists from underrepresented communities — a practice it established decades before it became widespread. Its AIM Fellowship, launched in 1980, serves as an annual career accelerator for New York City–based artists, and its Teen Council, founded in 2005, offers paid internships to Bronx high school students. Admission to all exhibitions and programs is always free. The museum approves requests for private event rentals on a case-by-case basis; interested parties can reach the events team directly to discuss on-site programming.
