The Compound Restaurant

The Compound Restaurant has anchored Canyon Road in Santa Fe, New Mexico, since 1966, housed in the Macomb Compound — an adobe property more than 250 years old. Long before the restaurant opened, the building hosted notable guests including Georgia O'Keeffe, John Wayne, and Errol Flynn. Designer Alexander Girard shaped the original interior, leaving behind details still present today: sanded white walls, hand-woven textile ceiling accents, and a sunken bar conceived as an intimate social space. Owner and chef Mark Kiffin, a James Beard Award winner for Best Chef of the Southwest, leads the kitchen with a seasonally driven contemporary American menu. The Compound holds AAA Four Diamond status, a DiRoNA Gold Award of Excellence, and has received Wine Spectator's Best of Award of Excellence for 19 consecutive years. Five private spaces — including intimate dining rooms seating 16 to 24, open-air terraces, and a sculpture garden — host events from small gatherings to full restaurant buyouts for up to 240 guests. The Compound is the largest free-standing fine dining establishment in Santa Fe.
