The Event Space at the Johnson County Arts and Heritage Center occupies a landmark building in Overland Park, Kansas — originally the King Louie West bowling alley and Ice Chateau, a mid-century Googie-style structure that opened in 1959 and operated for nearly fifty years before being reimagined as a cultural center. Following a 2015 renovation that honored the building's distinctive undulating roofline and angular stone facade, the Arts and Heritage Center opened in June 2017 and now draws more than 160,000 visitors annually. The centerpiece rental offering is the full event space, which accommodates up to 275 guests and can be divided into two separately bookable sections — a two-thirds portion for up to 175 guests and a one-third portion for up to 75. The space operates as an open-vendor facility, meaning clients may bring their own food and beverage, including alcohol. All full event space rentals include exclusive access to a finishing kitchen and an outdoor patio. Audio-visual equipment — three projectors with screens, wireless microphones, and a sound system — is included with the space, along with 300 white event chairs, round and banquet tables, and bar-height tables. Beyond the main event floor, the center offers a fully flexible Black Box Theater seating up to 330, two rehearsal studios accommodating up to 150 guests each, an art studio for groups up to 50, and a conference room for up to 15.
