The Rapids Theatre is a 19,260-square-foot concert and events venue occupying a restored historic building in downtown Niagara Falls, New York. Originally opened September 1, 1921 as The Bellevue Theatre — designed by architect Leon H. Lempert Jr. — the building served as a luxury movie house and vaudeville stage before falling into disrepair over subsequent decades. Current owner John Hutchins purchased the foreclosed property in 2007 and completed $1.8 million in renovations, restoring original features including the large domed ceiling, columned walls, grand balcony, and tiled lobby with marble accents, while adding modern sound, lighting, and video systems. The venue reopened December 5, 2009. Today, the theatre hosts concerts, weddings, corporate events, charity banquets, and private parties. All seating is removable, making the space adaptable across configurations: table seating for up to 300 guests, standing receptions for up to 1,750, or traditional theater seating for 800.
