The San Luis Resort, Spa and Conference Center

The San Luis Resort, Spa & Conference Center occupies a 32-acre beachfront property on Galveston Island, and has held the AAA Four Diamond Award since 1999. The resort's grounds sit atop the former Fort Crockett, a coastal defense installation established in 1897 whose eight-foot-thick concrete walls form part of the property's foundation; one of the fort's original gun emplacements now supports the resort's Gulf-view wedding gazebo, and another anchors a swimming pool. The San Luis name itself predates the resort by centuries — before 1783, explorers referred to Galveston Island as San Luis, a piece of island lore the resort carried into its own name. Event spaces include the Grand Ballroom, which accommodates up to 500 guests for weddings and receptions, and the more intimate Mainsail Salon. Outdoor ceremonies are held at the Gulf-view Gazebo overlooking the water. The resort's culinary team, spanning restaurants including The Steakhouse and Grotto Ristorante, customizes menus for wedding and event clients, and Spa San Luis offers on-site hair and makeup services for wedding parties. For meetings and conferences, the resort offers 200,000 square feet of IACC-accredited meeting facilities alongside its guest accommodations.
