The Tremont House is a historic hotel in Galveston's Strand Historic District, tracing its roots to a Galveston institution dating to 1839. The current building, once the Leon & H. Blum Building, was constructed in 1879 and restored by George and Cynthia Mitchell in the early 1980s, reopening in 1985 as the first major hotel to open in downtown Galveston in sixty years. Today the hotel offers nearly 17,000 square feet of flexible event space across eight venues, accommodating gatherings from 8 to 800 guests. The Tremont Ballroom, on the upper level of the historic Davidson building, features 14-foot ceilings and access to a balcony overlooking the Galveston Mardi Gras arch, while the Royal Room offers exposed brick and floor-to-ceiling windows looking out on historic downtown. Smaller spaces like the Library and Tribune Room suit more intimate ceremonies, and the hotel's Rooftop Bar can be rented in full for weddings and receptions with views of downtown Galveston and the harbor. A detail-oriented catering manager and wedding specialist work with couples throughout the planning process, and the hotel's dining venues and bars are available to complement events held on site.
