About The University Club at the University of Pittsburgh

The University Club has been part of the University of Pittsburgh's Oakland campus since 1923, when the club — founded downtown in 1890 — relocated into its current limestone building, part of the Schenley Farms National Historic District. Today the eight-story clubhouse operates as the campus's dedicated wedding and event venue, welcoming up to 180 guests. Ballroom A and Ballroom B anchor the venue, both furnished with imported crystal chandeliers, stone columns, and vaulted ceilings; Ballroom B, the larger of the two, hosts weddings, receptions, and conferences, while Ballroom A suits ceremonies, presentations, and smaller sit-down events. In warmer months, the fourth-floor Rooftop Terrace opens for cocktail hours and receptions with views of the Cathedral of Learning, and a vintage library and gold-curtained Gold Room provide additional spaces for bridal party preparation or smaller gatherings. As the exclusive wedding reception venue on Pitt's Oakland campus, the University Club maintains a partnership with Heinz Chapel: couples who marry at the Chapel and book their reception at the University Club have their ceremony fee waived. Wedding packages include house tables, chairs, and linens, a 16x16 dance floor, reserved parking, on-site catering, and a venue coordinator, all managed by the University of Pittsburgh's Conference Services team.

FAQs 7

Do you include a day-of coordinator?: The University Club includes a venue coordinator, though this differs from an outside hired day-of coordinator, who would work for the couple rather than the venue. Hiring an outside day-of coordinator is recommended for very detailed or DIY-heavy setups, or when many vendors outside the DJ/band or photographer/videographer need to be organized.
Do you offer cookie table plating?: Yes. The University Club plates cookies using its platters, tongs, and risers for $2 per person. Cookies can be dropped off the day prior if this service is added.
Where can we park?: A small parking lot sits directly outside the main entrance, and four complimentary reserved parking spaces are included in wedding packages. Up to 10 more passes can be added for $20 each. The Soldiers and Sailors Parking Garage is across the street and can also be reserved, and metered street parking is available.
Can we leave our items overnight after?: Nothing may be left behind at the end of an event. It is the couple's responsibility to break down and remove all items brought in, including items provided by hired vendors.
Are we able to drop our items off or do a rehearsal the day before?: A one-hour ceremony rehearsal, if applicable, and personal item drop-off time are offered the day before the wedding. The time and location are determined seven days prior.
