Tifft Nature Preserve is a 264-acre urban nature sanctuary on Buffalo's Outer Harbor, just a five-minute drive from downtown. The preserve encompasses ponds, cattail marshes, and woodlands connected by five miles of trails and boardwalks, and has been recognized by the National Audubon Society as an Important Bird Area. Originally farmland that later served as an industrial transshipment site and city dumpsite, the land was saved from landfill designation through community advocacy in the 1970s; ecological restoration followed, and since 1982 the preserve has operated as a department of the Buffalo Museum of Science. The preserve's newly renovated Herb & Jane Darling Environmental Education Center accommodates private events for up to 150 guests. The space supports corporate gatherings, meetings, and seminars, with A/V equipment — including projectors, screens, microphone, and lectern — high-speed internet, and on-site parking included. Tifft staff handle setup and teardown.
