Timber & Salt is a Redwood City staple—and the area’s only dedicated steakhouse—loved by locals and companies alike for one of the best cocktail programs in the Peninsula and elevated American comfort food. We regularly host corporate dinners and events, family gatherings, and celebrations for up to 80–100 guests. Our events are defined by three non-negotiables: UNMATCHED VALUE: with cocktail parties starting at $50 per person and seated dinner parties starting at $70. FULLY CUSTOMIZED menus, schedules, and service styles; If you’re organizing the event, stay relaxed—we’ll take it from here; TRUE STEAKHOUSE STANDARDS: uncompromising meats, technique, and ingredients (no shortcuts like frozen French fries). For lunch, afternoon, and off-peak buyouts (outside 5–9 PM Tue–Fri), we offer substantial discounts—delivering some of the best value you’ll find on the Peninsula. We have a beautifully covered patio that’s ideal for cocktail receptions and seamless indoor–outdoor flow. Our beloved bar program also makes it easy to add something memorable—whiskey tastings and a wide range of spirits tastings are available and perfect for fun company events.

    We price events based on two key factors: (1) guest count + event length (which determines how many kitchen/service staff we schedule—and for how long), and (2) your food selections and service style. From there, we build a clear, all-in quote around your goals and timeline. Most clients choose either a family-style menu (best for a seated, sit-down event) or an hors d’oeuvre menu (best for a standing, mingling cocktail-style event). Both are customizable for preferences, pacing, and dietary needs. As a benchmark, an $80 per person all-in budget (incl. tax + gratuity) typically translates to about $60 per person for food & beverage before tax/gratuity. That budget fits either format—often an elevated cocktail reception (about 5–7 appetizers + 1–2 drinks per guest) or a streamlined family-style dinner. For beverages, unless you expect heavy drinking, most groups choose hosted consumption: guests order from the bar and the total is billed to the host. If you want fixed pricing, we also offer an open bar option (e.g., $50/person for the first two hours).

How much does it cost to rent the venue?
We don’t charge a venue rental fee. Instead, we set a food-and-beverage minimum based on your event’s time, duration, and guest count—your only requirement is to meet that minimum. For example, a full indoor buyout on a Thursday evening is a $5,000 minimum (up to ~55 guests).
What is the venue capacity?

Yes—everything is catered in-house by Timber & Salt. Our kitchen and bar handle all food and beverage on-site, with fully customizable menus and service styles (cocktail reception, family-style, or plated).
What is the venue refund or cancellation policy?
Cancel >72 hrs: no charge. Cancel 72–24 hrs: 30% of estimated total/minimum charged and nonrefundable. Cancel <24 hrs or no-show: 75% total charged and nonrefundable.
Does the venue have on-site A/V equipment?
We don’t have built-in A/V, but you’re welcome to bring a portable TV and speaker—or we can arrange them for a small fee.
