Varaison Vineyards and Winery

Varaison Vineyards and Winery occupies a landmark 1904 Victorian home in Palisade, Colorado, in the heart of Colorado Wine Country. Ron and Kristin West purchased the property in 2004 and built it into a family-owned winery guided by an old-world winemaking philosophy — drawing from traditional European methods while applying scientific technique to achieve those characteristics in shorter timeframes. In 2010, two Varaison varietals competed at the Paris Wines and Spirits Expo at the U.S. Ambassador's residence, where both received recognition in blind tastings against French and American wines. The estate hosts private events across several distinct spaces. The Pavilion, a 2,500-square-foot covered structure with open-beam ceilings and views toward the Colorado mesas, seats up to 120 guests at round tables and can accommodate up to 300 with an added tent structure. It includes three ADA-compliant restrooms, a full catering kitchen, and on-site parking for up to 80 vehicles. The Victorian home's Formal Dining Room accommodates up to 20 guests for private wine dinners and meetings, while the Private Wine Cellar seats up to 8 for intimate tastings. The grounds also include a heritage rose garden established in 2008 in collaboration with Dr. Michael Marriott of David Austin Roses, featuring nearly 1,500 old English roses on approximately one acre.
