Water Works

Water Works formerly drew visitors from all over the world, including Charles Dickens, who commended the "pleasing design" of the building for its blend of graceful Neoclassical architecture on the outside with then-revolutionary technology on the inside. Columned walkways, a vintage gazebo, the Art Museum perched dramatically above, and Boathouse Row stretched out along the Schuylkill River just beyond are some of the features that contribute to the Water Works' status as one of the city's most picturesque settings.
