White Horse Black Mountain

White Horse Black Mountain is a nonprofit listening room and event venue housed in the historic McMurray Building at 105 Montreat Road in Black Mountain, North Carolina — about 20 minutes east of Asheville. The building, originally constructed in the 1940s as a Chevrolet dealership, was transformed into an intimate performance and events space by founders Kim Hughes and Bob Hinkle, who opened White Horse in November 2008 following a community-wide renovation effort. The main room spans 3,000 square feet with high arched wooden ceilings that deliver exceptional natural acoustics. It seats up to 180 guests and holds approximately 50 more standing, making it well-suited for weddings, rehearsal dinners, reunions, birthday celebrations, corporate retreats, and seminars. The venue includes a state-of-the-art sound system, a high-definition projection system with a 14×17-foot screen, and a full bar featuring local and regional draft beers, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages. An outdoor patio with mountain views provides additional gathering space, and free parking is available throughout the adjacent lots and downtown area. White Horse accommodates outside caterers and food vendors and is ADA-accessible. As a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit, the venue offers donor pricing to other organizations with nonprofit status.
