Located in downtown Dothan, Alabama, the Wiregrass Museum of Art occupies a landmark 1912–1913 building that originally served as the city's Water and Electric facility. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the building was transformed into a museum following a community-driven initiative launched in 1986. The museum completed three of four planned construction phases, resulting in 18,000 square feet of gallery space, exhibit preparation areas, and a conference center. The museum presents rotating exhibitions of visual art alongside a permanent collection, while offering a wide range of educational programs — including classes, workshops, summer camps, school tours, and community outreach. Events such as Art After Hours and First Saturday Family Day bring the broader Dothan community into the building throughout the year. General admission is free. The museum is fully accessible, with a ramp at the main entrance and elevator service to all galleries and studio levels. Conference center spaces are available for select qualifying events, including art-related gatherings, City of Dothan programs, and nonprofit functions.
