Yoshie Akiba, the creator and namesake of Yoshie's, opened a tiny sushi bar in North Berkeley in 1972 with her two best friends Kaz Kajimura, a journalist and carpenter, and Hiroyuki Hori, a painter and Japanese cook. Yoshi's acquired a reputation as the Bay Area's top site for superb Japanese cuisine and jazz music over the following 40 years, becoming one of the world's most regarded jazz venues. Yoshi's is now a 17,000-square-foot award-winning 310-seat live performance venue with a state-of-the-art sound system and design in the middle of Oakland's Jack London Square. The theater has broadened its focus to encompass larger genres suitable for a variety of musical interests under the direction of current Artistic Director Daniel Grujic. ENKAI ROOM Private dining room, also perfect for presentations and corporate events. Simple & elegant, the Enkai Room features a wireless microphone and a projector/screen (available for rent). Max Capacity: 24 guests MAIN DINING ROOM Perfect for weddings and private events of up to 80 guests, the Main Dining Room is located along with the restaurant's full-length windows and provides a full view of the outdoors. Book the sushi bar for your party and see our Chefs creating the most amazing rolls and sashimi combos right in front of you. When booked exclusively for your party, the Sushi Lovers Menu is a must-try.
