Halsted Flowers

Flowers are, in my opinion, nature's art. Simple and lovely, but also intriguing, sculptural, colorful, aromatic (or not), weird, and wacky... Flowers are a favorite of anyone who values the simple pleasures in life, and they are here for us to enjoy. We used to go to my grandparents' farm in the South when I was a kid, and I used to gather wildflowers and arrange them with my grandmother. We would hand tie charming little nosegays together as bluebonnets, Queen Anne's Lace, and Cosmos grew wild. I can't remember a time when I didn't appreciate nature, therefore I chose to pursue a profession in flowers. My style and mechanics as a designer were developed through excellent training at a floral design school in Aalsmeer, Holland, as well as in Chicago. I've worked in retail flower shops in Washington, DC, New York City, and Chicago, where I've had the privilege of designing alongside and learning from some truly amazing people. I've been in this field for more than 28 years, having owned and run three retail flower shops in Arkansas and Chicago. My goal is to create arrangements that inspire and offer delight to the recipients. Working as a florist has been terrific, hard, stressful, motivating, chaotic, entertaining, and maddening! I consider my profession as a way to help others, and I've gotten a lot of satisfaction in return. We at Halsted Flowers hope you'll give us the chance to create something special for you!
