MD FLORA is a floral design company in San Diego, California, that was formed in 2014. The studio provides full-service flower production for weddings, corporate events, small gatherings, marketing campaigns, and the creation of brand content. Also servicing the communities of Del Mar, Encinitas, La Jolla, Rancho Santa Fe, and surrounding areas. Every customer or couple that MD FLORA has the pleasure of working with serves as a source of inspiration for them. Melissa Duncanson, the company's lead designer and founder, works with customers and couples to develop a floral vision. She then delivers a customized proposal that includes a thoughtfully created mood board, an itemized contract, and a seamless plan for any and all logistical needs. Using intuitive artistic design and an organic chic perspective on garden blooms, MD FLORA strives to provide a floral experience that is both beautiful and memorable. Melissa presently resides in the Lake San Marcos neighborhood, which is located just north of San Diego, California. Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, she has made herself at home in Southern California, where her husband grew up, since 2010. She is also the mother of a young woman named Juniper Rainey. ​ Her academic years were spent at California State University, Chico, where she earned a BA in Fine Art with a concentration in Ceramics and Printmaking, as well as a minor in Art History. She now lives in Los Angeles. ​ Melissa embraced her love of design after many years of working in visual merchandising, museum teaching, non-profit development, and event production. She started MD FLORA to pursue her passion for design. Her objective is to create a unique floral experience that is layered with meaning and intention to leave a lasting impression. She feels that finding inspiration in ordinary times, respecting creativity, and working with her hands are all important aspects of life.
