  INCORPORATION Mrs. Anne C. Dulany and Mr. H. Rozier Dulany, Jr., the owners of the Buchanan Hall property at the time, made the decision to transfer the land and building to a nonprofit organization that would continue to play a vital part in the life of the town in the early 1930s. Towards this end, they and others came together on May 25, 1933, to form a 501(c)3 charity organization known simply as "Buchanan Hall" in memory of General Buchanan's construction of the facility and his gift of its use to the community. According to the founding documents, the Buchanan Hall nonprofit corporation would own and operate the building as Upperville's community center, noting that it was established "to hold meetings of a civic, patriotic, social, religious, educational, and charitable nature." The Buchanan Hall nonprofit corporation was established "to hold meetings of a civic, patriotic, social, religious, educational, and charitable nature," according to the founding documents. The initial trustees named to the board were Mrs. Anne C. Dulany, president; Mr. H. Rozier Dulany, Jr., secretary; and Mr. A. Cook Reid, trustee, all of whom were appointed on that date. Upon completion, an item titled "Upperville's Latest Community Project is Brought to a Close" ran in the Fauquier Times-Democrat on November 5, 1942, with the headline "Upperville's Latest Community Project is Brought to a Close." According to the report, "the building will be available for use by churches, humanitarian organizations, the Red Cross, and the Boy Scouts at no cost."   Briar Patch Bed & Breakfast Inn is a historic farm dating to 1805, set on 47 rolling acres with mountain views in Middleburg, Virginia's wine country, about 20 minutes from Dulles Airport and an hour from Washington, D.C. What began as a one-room log cabin grew through the 19th century into the estate known as Hillcrest, which withstood a Civil War battle between Union and Confederate forces before falling into disrepair; new owners restored the property in 1965 and renamed it The Briar Patch, adding a swimming pool and gardens while preserving its historic character. Today the estate hosts weddings and private events for up to 200 guests in The Fox Den, a nearly 5,000-square-foot event building with a large caterer's kitchen and space for ceremonies, cocktail receptions, and dinner and dancing. The grounds also offer multiple outdoor ceremony sites and a pool area for rehearsal dinners. Overnight guests can stay across the property's main house, cottage, and Chicken Coop, accommodating roughly 32 guests, with the one-bedroom cottage often used as a bridal suite.
