Located at 4000 Fruitridge Road, the center was originally constructed in 1981 by Sacramento County and substantially remodeled in 1998, and has since served as a popular gathering place for a wide range of community and private events. The main hall accommodates up to 250 guests for receptions, parties, and social gatherings, or up to 200 guests in banquet seating. Movable partitions allow the hall to be divided into five private meeting areas, making the center well-suited for both large celebrations and smaller group functions. Walter Burley Griffin, a fan of the Prairie School and a close associate of Frank Lloyd Wright, designed the Dickinson House. It is a true representation of Prairie School architecture from the early twentieth century, having been built in 1906. The Prairie School was an anti-mass-production, anti-assembly-line style that pushed for "organic architecture," the idea that a structure should appear to have grown organically from the land on which it was built. Moreover, the Prairie School was conceived as a uniquely North American architectural style. In order to achieve this, the Prairie School builders used decoration sparingly. With its basic, prominent horizontal lines, inconspicuous roof, and overhanging eaves, the Dickinson House exemplifies this. It appears to yield to the natural world around it.

Memory Garden at Monterey State Historic Park is a historic outdoor event venue located at 20 Custom House Plaza in the heart of Old Monterey, California. Designed by Frederick Law Olmstead Jr. in 1927 and enclosed by an eight-foot adobe wall, the garden centers on a 15-foot diameter fountain surrounded by four venerable Southern Magnolia trees that provide natural shade throughout the year. The garden accommodates up to 300 guests for luncheons and dinner receptions with tables and chairs, and up to 150 guests for wedding ceremonies and receptions that include tables, chairs, heaters, and props. Events are available during daylight and evening hours year-round, with music permitted until 9 p.m. The space features electrical outlets and lighting, an accessible unisex restroom on-site, a historic flower garden, an arbor, and a 5-by-16-foot barbecue available for cooking. Catering is handled through preferred vendors, and alcohol service is permitted with a certified server. The venue is managed by California State Parks and is not available on holidays or holiday weekends.
