It can seat 350 people, 450 standing. ​Meetinghouse is an interdisciplinary artistic and cultural space located in the historic Huntington building in downtown Miami. Inspired by past artist cooperatives such as Roycroft, Bauhaus, and the Shakers, we were founded in 2014 to further the discovery, dialog and expression across disciplines.Our programming includes exhibitions, lectures, screenings, performances, and printed materials and catalogs, bringing together local, national and international artists and designers based on shared processes and concepts observed in their works. A current event being hosted is Retreat and Relocation: A Colloquium on Climate Migration. Artists described the event in this way: As the land shifts, quakes, and floods with increasing frequency, it is evident that current modes of adaptation and mitigation are increasingly short-lived. Given the reality of time-limited approaches, as well as eventual reductions in both geography and investment, the Colloquium will consider retreat as a viable spatial alternative, with consideration of what is needed for design and policy to accommodate this possibility. Understanding that engineering and design models have established a leading theme for the last decade of discussion and planning in relation to climate change responses across communities, this Colloquium seeks to expand this framework to engage in a discussion of retreat applying a community-based focus. A panel discussion will provide an introduction to global strategies and policy analysis, and a facilitated discussion will enable local leaders to discuss applications in their own communities. The goal of this gathering is to open avenues of collaboration to explore new opportunities to evaluate conditions and impacts, and develop proactive strategies for facilitating retreat. The products that he has developed have been utilized all over the world for events such as weddings, major sporting events, numerous parties held at the White House, and corporate parties! The Sugar Barn is truly a one-of-a-kind venue because Bill and Julia have put their whole hearts into making it that way, and they have paid attention to every detail. We are so excited to finally put a face to your name and welcome you to the Sugar Barn. The Sugar Barn is situated on a 45-acre farm, which is also the location of our sugar cane cultivation and harvesting operations; hence, the name of the establishment. The Property is a place that exudes an air of rustic elegance and is framed on all sides by stunning oak trees and water features. One of the options for your ceremony is to take place in our breathtaking outdoor space, which features a grove of towering oak trees draped in an abundance of Spanish moss. The outdoor ceremony site, which we refer to as Wild Orange, is connected to the Sugar Barn by a dock that was hand-crafted and can be found on the other side of the pond.   In 1960, Harry and Mary Witte established Rockledge Gardens as a company that specializes in the cultivation of plants and the design of outdoor spaces. They had six children, and while all of them took turns working in the gardens, it was their youngest daughter, Theresa, and her husband, Kevin Riley, who made Rockledge Gardens their life's work. Although all of their children helped out in the gardens, Theresa and Kevin Riley are responsible for its continued success. Family and friends would occasionally inquire about the possibility of holding a small wedding ceremony or reception at the nursery due to its four acres of beautiful gardens. Both Kevin and Theresa always answered in the affirmative, and as a result, on occasion, two people would start their lives together amidst the trees and flowers. But in 2011, Theresa and Kevin's eldest son, Joseph, married a young lady named Liz in the greenhouse, and their large flowery garden rainbow wedding was featured on Offbeat Bride. Joseph and Liz's wedding was a part of a rainbow theme. After that, not only close family and friends but also complete strangers expressed interest in having their weddings in the gardens. The year 2013 marked the year that Liz and Joseph made the move from New York to Rockledge, and shortly after that move, they started having visions of a beautiful event space. It was designed by Joseph, constructed by Kevin, and Liz conceived of a strategy for hosting events such as weddings, workshops, and seminars. The new venue for weddings and other events had its grand opening in the spring of 2017, and it was given the name The Harry and Mary Witte Learning Center in honor of the couple who established our organization. We can only hope that Harry and Mary are looking down on their gardens from some high point, beaming with pride and joy at the sight of so many wonderful new beginnings in their gardens.
