Embedded with Mythology In the midst of one of the spacious coves that indent the eastern shore of the Hudson, at the broad expansion of the river known to the ancient Dutch navigators as the Tappan Zee, and where they always prudently shortened sail and implored the protection of St. Nicholas when they crossed, there lies a small market-town or rural port, which is sometimes referred to as Greensburgh, but which is more commonly and properly known by the name of Tarry Town." "The Legend of Sleepy Hollow," written by Washington Irving and first published in 1820, is a classic American folk tale. Atop a hill above Sunnyside, the famed author's home in Tarrytown, the Tarrytown House Estate offers breathtaking views of the surrounding area, which is rich in history and folklore. Other attractions in "Sleepy Hollow Country" include Kykuit, the Rockefeller family estate in Pocantico Hills; Lyndhurst, the former residence of financier Jay Gould; and Philipsburg Manor, a colonial farm.

Le Fanfare is a lovely and welcoming original Italian restaurant and event venue in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. It serves traditional Italian cuisine. Le Fanfare, tucked away at the end of Manhattan Avenue and nestled amid the traditional Polish bakeries and butchers, serves modest Italian cuisine accompanied by live jazz music. The menu is complemented with an all-Italian wine list as well as classic drinks. Greenpoint was chosen as the location for their next project because the energy there was similar to that of Nolita fifteen years ago, according to the owners, jazz musician Luca Fadda, his wife Giorgia, and their long-time friend Nicola Paganelli (whose family owns the Meloni winery in their native Sardinia, Italy). Chef Adam Ross oversees the kitchen, which serves only the highest-quality foods that are presented in a straightforward and friendly manner. All of the pastas and breads are prepared right here in the restaurant. Seasonal Italian cuisine is created using regional products and ingredients that have been meticulously selected. It is the perfect setting for any type of event, including a small wedding reception, rehearsal dinner, wedding shower, baby shower, and anniversary party. We have established ourselves as a leading Brooklyn wedding venue for couples wishing to host approximately 60 persons seated. Most of our menus are served family-style, and we have a variety of selections to choose from to suit your preferences. We have created an environment that is suitable for any form of celebration! Minton's Playhouse

    206 W 118th St, New York, NY 10026, USA

Jazz music has unquestionably been America's most significant cultural contribution to the world. Minton's Playhouse in Harlem, New York, is considered to be one of the most important shrines in the history of jazz, and this can be argued with equal force. In a sense, Minton's was the birthplace of Bebop; in a more literal sense, it was the place where the foundations of modern jazz were laid. It was founded in 1938 by the saxophonist Henry Minton (from whom the establishment took its name), and over the next decade, Minton's Playhouse became the scene of a revolutionary shift in jazz performance. Minton's Playhouse is regarded as a pivotal location in the history of jazz in New York City. Bring your friends and family to our Harlem location for dinner and the best live music New York City has to offer. Take a journey through the history of jazz. We have two sets scheduled: 7 p.m. and 9 p.m. Each set is approximately 70 minutes in length. It was in this relatively small Harlem nightclub that these musicians, in the words of the immortal Ralph Ellison, "formulated... the chordal progressions and the hide-and-seek melodic methods of modern jazz." It was there that they "formulated... the chordal progressions and the hide-and-seek melodic methods of modern jazz." In other words, Minton's was not only the birthplace of Bebop, but it was also the incubator for everything that has come to be known as modern jazz. While Minton's is best known for its pivotal role in the Bebop revolution of the 1940s, the club maintained a vital existence through the early 1960s as a gathering place for musicians looking to jam, and it continued to operate until 1974, when a fire forced the closure of the Cecil Hotel, where Minton's was located. Nonetheless, Minton's Playhouse has been listed on both the National and the New York State Registers of Historic Places, in recognition of its significance in American history and culture.

Kelli Connell's twenty-year study with one model is an introspective examination of sexuality and gender roles in intimate relationships that form self-identity. The project investigates identity polarities such as the masculine and feminine psyche, the irrational and rational self, the outward and interior self, and the motivated and resigned self. Body language and clothes define the dualities of the person by mixing several photographic negatives of the same model in each image. The significance of these photos rests in their portrayal of internal conflicts as an outward object: a photograph. The spectator is presented with "constructed realities" through these pictures. Rentals and Photoshoots Holding your event at the Alice Austen House gardens is an opportunity to participate in New York City history.
