The Schertz Civic Center offers more than 10,000 square feet of rental space across multiple event venues, conveniently located off IH-35 between Austin and San Antonio. The complex includes the Grand Ballroom, a 7,200-square-foot space with wood floors, tall ceilings, and adjustable lighting that divides into four separate meeting rooms and accommodates up to 400 guests banquet-style or 600 theater-style; the more intimate Cut-Off Hall, which shares the Grand Ballroom's amenities for smaller gatherings up to 200; Bluebonnet Hall, a wood-floored space with audio-visual capability and a commercial kitchen for groups up to 120; and the Conference Hall, which seats up to 200 theater-style and can be partitioned into three breakout rooms for training sessions. Ye Kendall Inn is a Texas and National Landmark hotel in Boerne, Texas, built in 1859 by Erastus and Sarah Reed in the Southern Colonial style. The original center section is constructed of native rock walls twenty inches thick, with additional wings added in 1878; the property has hosted guests including Jefferson Davis, President Dwight D. Eisenhower, and Robert E. Lee. Set on approximately 6.5 acres along the Cibolo Creek in Boerne's town square, the inn offers 36 guestrooms, suites, and cabins, including four original rooms from the Old Reed House, courtyard rooms, and historic conversions such as a real schoolhouse and a former Lutheran church known as St. John's. The center's indoor aquatic area includes water slides, vortex pools, a current river, and a five-lane lap pool, alongside a separate outdoor pool, making it a natural fit for pool parties and large group gatherings during warmer months. Built more than a century ago in downtown Austin, the Byrne-Reed House is a restored Texas vernacular residence that now serves as the headquarters of Humanities Texas. Designed by architect Charles H. Page, the house was renovated over the course of a year following nearly a decade of planning, and the restoration went on to earn eleven architectural awards along with coverage in Texas Architect, Humanities Magazine, Preservation, and Old House Journal. The house's first floor offers roughly 2,600 square feet of gracious public space, including an entrance foyer, dining room, gallery, and living room, all centered on the Julius and Suzan Glickman Room. A 1,000-square-foot wraparound porch and east and south terraces extend the setting outdoors, while a second-floor library adds further character. A catering kitchen, elevator, and large restrooms round out the building, which is ADA accessible with parking available. The Byrne-Reed House has hosted teacher workshops and Humanities Texas's annual Holiday Book Fair, reflecting its role as a gathering place for the community as well as the organization's own offices.
