The Celeste building was originally built in 1888 by the firm Denkmar Adler & Louis Sullivan as a glass factory, the building still exudes the vintage glow that harkens back to the Hubbard neighborhood’s industrial roots. However, inside Celeste, there are four distinct levels –Whiskey Bar, Deco Supper Club, Disco, and the rooftop Garden – each interpreting a glamorous late 19th and early 20th century mood with subtly gorgeous nuances. These include a combination of tiled floors with monogrammed glass walls and iron detail and gold leaf ceilings with marble and Victorian furniture. Located at 111 W. Hubbard Street, CELESTE is open Wednesday through Friday from 5pm to 4am and Saturday from 5pm to 5am. La Grande Boucherie brings the Parisian dining concept to Chicago’s River North neighborhood. The 10,120 square foot restaurant offers authentic French cuisine in a remarkable Art Nouveau interior. The two-story, 381- seat restaurant features 25-foot-tall stained-glass windows overlooking the bustling streets of Chicago, curved ceilings, custom mosaic floors, and a 100-year-old glass mural from Paris that survived the German bombardment in WWII. The magnum opus of the design is an 82-foot-long racetrack pewter bar imported from France and constructed with traditional legacy metalworking techniques reminiscent of old-world bars. La Grande Boucherie is a testament to the fusion of art and history, a space where historical legacy is seamlessly integrated into modern dining, making every visit not just a meal, but a journey into the century's old Paris establishment.

Welcome to the Firehouse Art Studio! A gathering place to celebrate life, community and art in Chicago's oldest firehouse. We are a mission driven organization focused on self expression, opportunity, and empowerment. Today, the Firehouse Art Studio is a gathering place for creative learning and communal celebration, but many visitors may not realize the significance of the building they’re walking into. The Firehouse Art Studio is actually the oldest firehouse in the City of Chicago! It was the first fire station built after the Chicago fire in 1871. It was constructed in 1872 and opened as a Firehouse in 1873. Chicago Fire Department’s Engine 18 moved into the building that year and it remained their home for the next 135 years. The back area of the building was designed for the horses, the front area for the wagons they pulled. The entire second floor was made up of offices and living quarters, each room with its own fire pole so the sleeping firefighters could quickly slide into action. In 1916, the front facade was redesigned and recessed making room for the widening of Roosevelt Rd. and the back of the building was expanded. The floors were reinforced and the overhead doors were enlarged to make room for a new era of fire trucks that would soon replace the horses and wagons. This was the only major alteration in the building’s history and even then, most of the original features were left untouched.
