From the moment Chef Daniel Boulud could hold a spoon, he remembers savoring his mother’s potato dish – Le Gratin Dauphinois, a favorite he remains to make on all celebratory occasions. The symbolic and casual restaurant connects Chef Daniel with the traditional bistros and bouchons of his hometown of Lyon, France, known for their welcoming ambiance and soulful cuisine. The rustic menu reflects a soulful approach to seasonality, bright flavors, and classic techniques highlighting special ingredients from local purveyors. Lyonnais classics such as “Quenelle de Brochet au Gratin” and “Steak Tartare à la Parisienne” share space with seasonal dishes and “Plat du Mois” – a rotating dish of the month showcasing regional cuisine, meant to share. The space was brought to life by NYC design icons Fabiana Faria and Helena Barquet, the creative minds behind Coming Soon NYC, known for their playful yet refined aesthetic. This speakeasy is located near the Williamsburg bridge with its own separate entrance on South 5th St. The space was renovated for creatives and is now available for your use. Thus, the look of the space is rustic and industrial including art murals and brick walls, and high pipe exposed ceilings. The floor has its original concrete, with small drains throughout. The space lets in very little daylight even during peek hours of sunshine. This allows photo and video work to have total control over the lighting. The space also comes with a multicolored LED light system that allows you to control the vibe through the space. We have a 10 foot long L- bar and small kitchen with fridge for food storage. The space is equipped with a WIFI network, great phone reception for any carrier, a powerful sound system with high quality JBL speakers wired together throughout the space, and a dj booth. All renters can use our hanging ceiling movie screen and projector to stage their own film viewings. The space encompasses a total of 10,000 square feet, seamlessly blending indoor and outdoor areas. For indoor events, we have an open warehouse space, a skylit indoor catering room, and a private mezzanine lounge. Ultimately, the garden is the heart of our space, created as a quiet retreat among plants, birds, insects, and urban wildlife. Tucked in the back of our garden is a discreet wooden "treehouse", perfect for a quiet moment during any event. Carroll Hall and Dameron Architecture were awarded the 2022 AIA New York Design Award Citation for Reclaiming Urban Space. Our commitment to sustainability is reflected in our very foundation, which uses original bricks and existing ceramic brick walls from the prior warehouse structure, and most of the interior wood is reclaimed.
