ART NOUVEAU, French for "New Art" (pronounced New-Vo), spread throughout Europe and major American cities from circa 1890 to World War I, when it fell out of fashion. Appearing just before the Art Deco era it was, in many ways, a response to the Industrial Revolution. Artists, seeing machines and mass production as an enemy of art and design, turned to nature, fantasy, and curvilinear motifs to express their rejection of industry. Art Nouveau artists were among the first to create "art for art's sake" and its influence was found in paintings, architecture, glass, textiles, furniture, silver, china, jewelry, and others. Art Nouveau designers believed that all arts should work in harmony to create a "total work of art". After World War I, the Art Deco style took over and Art Nouveau was soon forgotten. However, it remains one of the most imaginative and intriguing styles in the history of art. After many years, it was discovered in the 1960's and helped pave the way to many forms of modern art.

Mama La is the secret ingredient in each of our Kim Son Restaurants, and she can be found in every location. Kim Su Tran La was born in Vietnam, and she, her husband, and their seven children fled to Houston in 1980, fleeing the communist regime that had taken over their country at the time. Mother-in-law Mama La was able to memorize more than 250 recipes before opening the first KIM SON Restaurant, thanks to her extensive knowledge of Vietnamese cuisine, which she received from her in-laws. In a short period of time, her food amassed a large following of thousands of followers, as well as the admiration and loyalty of many of Vietnam's top restaurant cities. The first KIM SON store was located in Vinh Long, but it was eventually closed as a result of the communist takeover of the country in 1975. KIM SON has been recognized by a number of prestigious publications, including Bon Appétit, Esquire, and Food & Wine, and has been named "Best Vietnamese Restaurant" in Houston on an annual basis by the Houston Press. Currently, Mama La's culinary skills have allowed her restaurant group to expand to include four full-service restaurants, three banquet facilities, and four food court outlets throughout the greater Houston region. River Oaks Garden Club, a member of The Garden Club of America, was founded in 1927 and has made numerous contributions to the Houston community in the areas of conservation, horticulture, and civic beautification. River Oaks Garden Club is a member of The Garden Club of America. The proceeds from the Azalea Trail are used to support the following ongoing projects: Louise Stevenson, a founding member of the River Oaks Garden Club, was the driving force behind the organization's inception. She persuaded her next-door neighbor, Hennie Cottingham, to join her in forming some sort of civic beautification organization to address the critical need for civic beautification in the River Oaks neighborhood. When the Garden Club's first official meeting was held on October 27, 1927, it was attended by 29 members, and it marked the beginning of a thriving and growing organization that was eventually admitted into the Garden Club of America in 1938. The members of the club quickly gained knowledge in the areas of gardening, garden design, horticulture, and flower arranging, among other things. They used their newfound knowledge to encourage others to get involved in improving the planted environment in Houston. There are no commercial, political, or fundraising purposes permitted on the Forum. Teen parties are also prohibited on the Forum. The maximum number of people who can fit into the space is 175. HPD security will be provided, and all functions must be completed and the building cleaned and vacated by midnight on the day of the rental agreement. The building manager must approve any outside catering, and all rental equipment must be picked up after the event unless otherwise agreed upon with the building manager.

The Heritage Society at Sam Houston Park preserves ten historic structures on a landscaped campus in downtown Houston, spanning architecture from the pre-statehood era through the early twentieth-century oil boom. A 501(c)(3) museum organization dedicated to telling the diverse history of Houston and Texas, the campus also serves as a setting for weddings, receptions, and private events. Rental spaces range from the Gothic Revival-style 1891 St. John Church to open-air settings like Connally Plaza and the Bagby Street Front Patio, both backed by downtown Houston's skyline. The 1847 Kellum-Noble House, the oldest building on its original foundation in the city, hosts smaller dinners and receptions, while the Museum Gallery and Tea Room offer indoor space for larger gatherings.

The Last Concert is a live music venue, historical site, and party venue all rolled into one. The restaurant has a beautiful garden area with waterfalls and a pavilion that is ideal for weddings, receptions, and other special occasions. BURGUNDY ROOM With wine storage, creative artwork, and views of our operating wine cellar, this is a cozy spot. This area can seat up to 22 people for a seated dinner and up to 30 people for cocktails and served hors d'oeuvres. GARDEN ROOM A distinct dining room with mahogany French doors, gorgeous drapes, original artwork, and spectacular views of our lush surroundings. The Garden Room has its own door, patio, and bathrooms. This space can sit 64 people for a seated meal or 100 people for cocktails and passed hors d'oeuvres. WATERFALL PATIO You may celebrate a private event for two or a roaring get-together for up to 24 guests in the middle of our garden, bordered with foliage and waterfalls. GARDEN LOUNGE & GARDEN GAZEBO The freshly remodeled Garden Lounge features plush seats, a stately gazebo, and magnificent gas fire pits. This garden haven is the ideal spot for sipping handcrafted cocktails and nibbling on delectable chef-curated snacks.
