  Thistle Hill is the most spectacular cattle baron era estate that has been preserved, and it is also one of the most prominent residential landmarks in Fort Worth. Thistle Hill is a Georgian Revival home that exemplifies the architectural magnificence of Fort Worth's affluent pioneers. The neighborhood where it is located was formerly known as Quality Hill. In the year 1904, Albert Buckman Wharton, Jr. and his wife Electra Waggoner Wharton, who was the daughter of a wealthy cattleman named W.T. Waggoner, moved into this home that was 11,000 square feet and included 18 rooms. The home was remodeled by Sanguinet and Staats in 1911, after Elizabeth and Winfield Scott bought the estate for $90,000 and commissioned them to do so. The original house had been designed by Sanguinet and Staats. The primary bulk of the house is a gambrel-roofed structure that is two and one-half stories tall and has semi-circular bays on either side. The mansion is accentuated by towering chimneys as well as a massive porch that has limestone columns. The roof is covered in glossy green tiles, and the walls are elaborately framed in cast stone. The outside is red brick. The foyer welcomes guests with a grand staircase and abundant woodwork as two of its prominent features. The enclosed gardens of 1.5 acres, which include a magnificent carriage house, have been preserved. In 1975, the home was included in the National Register of Historic Places. In 1977, it was recognized as a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark, and in 1978, it became the first Historic and Cultural Landmark in Fort Worth.

  The Goldbergs are our surnames. Our family came together in the spring of 2016 to develop this venue with the goal of providing a calm setting for the most wonderful occasions. The structures were framed by brothers. The stained glass was produced by grandparents. Interior touches were put together by siblings, cousins, uncles, significant others, and friends to help bring this idea to life. We believe that the joy you experience with the people you love should be the focus of any celebration, so we're here to take care of some of the logistics. Stillwater Meadow is a wonderful event site in Aledo, Texas, called after the property's delightful pond and lovely meadow. For any wedding party to enjoy, our large site has a gorgeous wedding chapel, a tastefully fitted reception hall, and separate get-ready spaces. Wedding weekends are held at Stillwater Meadow, which provides an idyllic location. All rental packages include full access to a storage area stocked with decor for your usage. The Bridal House features a kitchen, mirrored salon, and expansive front and back porches. The Groom's Retreat is housed in a 1905 barn that has been refurbished. It has a calm ambiance as well as a patio space. Stained glass, mosaic windows, and antique pews adorn our Chapel. This medieval setting is enhanced by an ancient bronze bell and other wooden decorations. The chapel, on the outskirts of Texas Women's University, is a hidden sanctuary that has hosted weddings since September 1939, a few months before Eleanor Roosevelt's dedication. The exquisite internal stain glass windows complement the natural splendor that surrounds the Little Chapel. On saw-pierced and riveted brass lighting, and woodwork completed in beech, hand carved woodwork on the pews, the Little Chapel in-the-Woods' rich symbolism delicately conveys "Woman Ministering to Human Needs." Architect O'Neil Ford designed the Chapel, which is 90 feet long and 24 feet broad. During the Great Depression, it was built as a project of the National Youth Administration and dedicated by former First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt. The Little Chapel in the Woods is steeped in history, and every piece in the chapel is imbued with the aesthetic fingerprint of young women artists. The stone walls take on a charming blue tint as the sunshine filters through the stained glass windows, and the exterior is surrounded by magnificent green landscapes.
