The Inn exudes a relaxed elegance that is infused with a sense of nostalgia for a bygone period. During the warmer months, the Courtyard, which is located between the Inn and the Mill, is a wonderful area to sit and unwind. Enjoy a glass of wine or a cup of coffee in our on-site Copper Shop, where our local coppersmith, Al Green, handcrafts his popular and patented "Fredericksburg Lantern," which can be purchased. Every day, a hot, freshly prepared continental breakfast is provided at no charge. The courtyard, which is straight out the back doors of the Inn and leads to the Silk Mill, is a great place for outdoor seating. Couples can hold their ceremony outdoors beneath a 200-year-old oak tree or by the pond, or indoors with the barn doors open, and reception inside the climate-controlled barn with heating and air conditioning. Great Marsh Estate's Manor House was built in the 1980s as a historical re-creation of a conventional Georgian manor house. After years of serving as a private property, the transfer to a wedding venue in 2018 seemed logical. While your guests chat on the first floor and the gentlemen play pool in our basement groom's suite, the Manor House 2nd floor rooms provide a wide and lovely backdrop for your morning hair and makeup as a bridal suite. Our famed Georgian Mansion is nestled in over 121 acres of lawn and forest, close to Warrenton and only an hour drive from Washington, DC, with restored period features and illustrious past and charm. Great Marsh Estate's Manor House is your very own unique country house for the day, with a luxurious bridal suite and a peaceful groom's lounge. The spiraling staircase, twelve-foot ceilings, stunning mirrors and lighting, and panoramic views of the courtyard Ceremony Site in the Bridal Suite were all designed with you and your guests in mind. The Reception Hall The joyous backdrop to your celebration is our Stables reception space, where your guests will enjoy dinner and reception. Heat/AC, onsite toilets, exquisite bistro lighting, and a delightful campfire area outside the covered patio have all been added to our Stables. The ideal venue for family and friends to celebrate your love! The Stables reception hall, which was erected in the 1800s, has a longer history. Its rustic architecture and wooden beams were kept during renovations in 2017, which included all of the modern comforts such as air conditioning/heating, restrooms, and a catering kitchen, as well as bistro lighting and a patio lounge space. The contrast between the magnificent Manor House and the more rustic Stables creates a unique and varied venue experience that your guests will enjoy! All of this, however, pales in comparison to the venue's natural beauty. It's a photographer's dream location, with its tranquil rolling hills, large green trees, tree-lined driveway, and onsite pond and bridge. We're excited to show you around!

Built in 1785 in the historic district of Old Town Alexandria, Virginia, the Lee-Fendall House was home to 37 members of the Lee family and later served as the Grosvenor Branch Hospital, treating wounded Union soldiers during the Civil War. Generations of enslaved and free African Americans also lived and worked on the property, and labor leader John L. Lewis, founder of the Congress of Industrial Organizations, later resided in the home during the height of his career. The Virginia Trust for Historic Preservation opened the house as a museum in 1974, and it is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places and the Virginia Landmarks Register. Behind the house sits a half-acre walled garden that traces back to a Victorian-era redesign by the Cazenove family in the 1850s, with a rose garden, an herb garden, and magnolia, black walnut, and ginkgo trees planted around 1852. Entered through a gate on Washington Street, the garden is free and open to the public whenever the museum is open and has been certified as a National Wildlife Federation Wildlife Habitat since 2019. Today the Lee-Fendall House Museum and Garden offers guided tours, exhibitions, and educational programming exploring nearly two centuries of American history, from the Lee family's residency through the property's role as a Civil War hospital and its twentieth-century labor history.
