The Freight Shed sits at Riverwalk Landing on the York River in historic Yorktown, Virginia. Built in 1935 by the National Park Service after a storm destroyed much of the original waterfront, the building served as a terminal for Baltimore steamships until 1952 and later operated as a post office, before an extensive 2005 renovation coincided with the opening of Riverwalk Landing. Today the roughly 1,950-square-foot venue hosts weddings, reunions, banquets, concerts, and business meetings and lectures for up to 130 seated guests. Glass arched doors open onto a large brick riverside plaza, with river views and sunsets forming a backdrop for photography, while an adjoining tented area extends the space for ceremonies, cocktail hours, and dancing. Lakeside Park Club has anchored its corner of Richmond, Virginia since 1896, when philanthropist Lewis Ginter first developed the property as a public park with a clubhouse, boathouses, a pavilion, and even a zoological garden. Today it operates as a private club built around a 1920s Donald Ross golf course design, a traditional links-style layout that borders the Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens along the lake that gives the club its name. For weddings, galas, and private events, the club offers three spaces suited to different gatherings. The Ballroom, the largest, seats up to 180 guests for a plated dinner or up to 200 for a cocktail-style reception, making it the venue's primary space for weddings and large celebrations. The Terrace Room accommodates up to 75 seated guests or 100 for a reception, a fit for mid-sized gatherings, while the Lakeside Room offers a more intimate setting with lake views and seating for up to 25, suited to board meetings or smaller private gatherings. Beyond its event spaces, the club's grounds include three clay tennis courts, a hard-surface court, four pickleball courts, and a junior-Olympic pool with its own poolside bar, amenities available to members and their guests alongside golf and private events.

Hungry Mother State Park is one of Virginia's original six state parks, established in 1936 on 3,334 acres of mountain woodland in Marion, Virginia. At its center sits a serene 108-acre lake, framed by hiking trails, a sandy beach, and a boat launch, giving couples and event hosts a mountain-and-water backdrop that's been drawing visitors for nearly a century. The park's Civilian Conservation Corps-era infrastructure, built between 1933 and 1941, earned it a listing in the National Register of Historic Places and still shapes the setting today. For events, the park offers the lakeside Lakeview Event Facility, an amphitheater on a footbridge-accessed island, picnic shelters near the beach and in secluded woodland, and the meeting rooms and sports complex at Hemlock Haven Conference Center. Named for the local legend of a pioneer woman found near the mountain now called Molly's Knob, Hungry Mother pairs its scenic lake and woodland setting with a range of indoor and outdoor spaces suited to weddings, retreats, and gatherings of varying sizes.

Boonsboro Country Club sits on 300 acres in the Lynchburg region of Virginia, on land that was farmed as early as 1800. Its manor house, known as "Sholto," was originally built between 1793 and 1800; the club itself was established in 1923, and in 1929 architect Pendleton S. Clark added a ballroom to the historic structure. The club's 18-hole golf course was designed by Scottish architect Willie Park Jr. and completed by Fred M. Findlay, opening in 1929. Today the club hosts weddings and private events for up to 350 guests, with settings ranging from the brick-and-column manor house front lawn to the Ballroom, described as the club's grandest indoor venue. Its grounds offer panoramic views of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the golf course, and its event team provides coordination and gourmet dining throughout the planning process.
