The Celeste building was originally built in 1888 by the firm Denkmar Adler & Louis Sullivan as a glass factory, the building still exudes the vintage glow that harkens back to the Hubbard neighborhood’s industrial roots. However, inside Celeste, there are four distinct levels –Whiskey Bar, Deco Supper Club, Disco, and the rooftop Garden – each interpreting a glamorous late 19th and early 20th century mood with subtly gorgeous nuances. These include a combination of tiled floors with monogrammed glass walls and iron detail and gold leaf ceilings with marble and Victorian furniture. Located at 111 W. Hubbard Street, CELESTE is open Wednesday through Friday from 5pm to 4am and Saturday from 5pm to 5am. The space is Art Moderne style with Edgar Miller paintings on the windows. There's also an outdoor courtyard with seating. It is located a few blocks from North Ave beach and Oak Street beach plus the restaurants and shopping of the Gold Coast. There's also a Jewel Osco that's about a five minute walk away. In the mid-1930s, Frank J. Fisher, a Marshall Field’s executive, commissioned the architect Andrew Rebori to design a residential property that would also generate some income. Rebori recruited the muralist and craftsman Edgar Millerto help detail the spaces with stained glass and other finishes. This is an ideal space for small gatherings and professional events.
