  Gruene Estate sits on 17 acres in the historic town of Gruene, Texas, between San Antonio and Austin, on land the Gruene family first settled in 1846. Ernst and Antoinette Gruene built a home and barn on the property, and their sons went on to found the Thornhill Steam Mills that grew into the town of Gruene itself. Now owned by Dr. Daniel and Anna Lisa Tamez, the estate has been restored to its original 10-acre core and continues its family history of hosting the community. At the heart of the property is the original open-air chapel, an intimate space with a stained-glass window backdrop, bench seating, and a sound system with lapel microphone. Nearby, the Modern Farmhouse Covered Pavilion pairs handmade farm tables and chairs with chandeliers and string lighting, a bar and cocktail area, a concert stage with outlets for a DJ or band, and a fire pit overlooking the grounds.   Rock Lake Ranch is a working ranch owned and operated by the Geffert family, which has been in the family for several generations. They are sixth generation Texans who take tremendous pleasure in their ancestors and the history of their home state. This gorgeous property, which was named after Rock Lake Creek, was formerly a camping area for Native Americans who were lured to the spring-fed creek that cut through the exposed sandstone cliffs. The Gefferts' great-grandparents came in the Piedmont area in the mid-1850s, when they were born. During the 1920s, their grandparents, Annie Lee and Johnny Churchwell, were still operating a self-sufficient farmhouse on the acreage they inherited. The Writer's Cottage, a shotgun-style residence built in the early 1900s in Houston's Fourth Ward, was formerly a popular hangout for writers. When it was transported to the ranch in 2005, it had been authentically restored by volunteers and professionals from Historic Houston. The Old Gibbons Creek bridge, a steel-truss bridge built in the early twentieth century and affectionately known as the "Shanghai Bridge" by locals, originally stood a few miles away. It had been abandoned since the 1980s, but it was relocated and rebuilt in 2009, and it now serves as a picturesque gateway to the Waterfront Pavilion and other outdoor spaces at Rock Lake Ranch. There are still remnants of their grandparents' first home on Rock Lake Ranch, including the Allen House and wooden barn area, as well as the old well house and cistern where their grandparents' original farmhouse previously stood. Six crystal chandeliers, rafter uplighting, and Edison bulb globe lighting illuminate the barn wood and white limestone interior, while custom white draping can divide the more than 4,200 square feet of indoor space into smaller areas.   Flying V Ranch is a 450-acre working cattle ranch just outside Decatur, Texas, neighboring the LBJ National Grasslands. The property has belonged to the Warner family for three generations, and the venue took shape when mother-daughter team Sherry and Page Warner chose to open the ranch to weddings and private events after the loss of the family patriarch. The Reception Hall occupies the ranch's original auction barn, keeping its white shiplap walls, wood floors, and industrial beams alongside a chandelier for a mix of rustic Texas character and polish; it offers an indoor seated capacity of 280, with many adjacent outdoor spaces available for expansion. Just outside, an Outdoor Chapel opens through freestanding cathedral doors onto 360-degree ranch views, with white wooden pews, an arched pavilion with a working bell, and a pond backdrop. A Cocktail Garden strung with overhead lights, a central fountain, biergarten-style tables, and a fire pit rounds out the grounds, and a Covered Pavilion adapts easily to lounge, dining, ceremony, or dance-floor use.
