Designed by Francis Warfield & Associates after the 1790s Linden of Natchez, the home was built for the Brown family between 1954 and 1956 and is now part of Lamar State College Orange.   The Kell House Museum is a 1909 neoclassical home built by Frank Kell, one of the founding businessmen of Wichita Falls, Texas, on a hillside overlooking the developing town. Designed by the architectural firm Jones and Orlopp, the residence is distinguished by its white columns, white railings, and red brick walls. Kell and his wife, Lula Kemp Kell, raised seven children in the home, and their daughter Willie May lived there until 1980, when the Wichita County Heritage Society acquired and restored the property. Today the Wichita County Heritage Society operates the Kell House Museum as a historic house museum and event venue in downtown Wichita Falls, showcasing original family furnishings, textiles, decorative arts, and historic costumes alongside its architecture.   Rock Lake Ranch is a working ranch owned and operated by the Geffert family, which has been in the family for several generations. They are sixth generation Texans who take tremendous pleasure in their ancestors and the history of their home state. This gorgeous property, which was named after Rock Lake Creek, was formerly a camping area for Native Americans who were lured to the spring-fed creek that cut through the exposed sandstone cliffs. The Gefferts' great-grandparents came in the Piedmont area in the mid-1850s, when they were born. During the 1920s, their grandparents, Annie Lee and Johnny Churchwell, were still operating a self-sufficient farmhouse on the acreage they inherited. The Writer's Cottage, a shotgun-style residence built in the early 1900s in Houston's Fourth Ward, was formerly a popular hangout for writers. When it was transported to the ranch in 2005, it had been authentically restored by volunteers and professionals from Historic Houston. The Old Gibbons Creek bridge, a steel-truss bridge built in the early twentieth century and affectionately known as the "Shanghai Bridge" by locals, originally stood a few miles away. It had been abandoned since the 1980s, but it was relocated and rebuilt in 2009, and it now serves as a picturesque gateway to the Waterfront Pavilion and other outdoor spaces at Rock Lake Ranch. There are still remnants of their grandparents' first home on Rock Lake Ranch, including the Allen House and wooden barn area, as well as the old well house and cistern where their grandparents' original farmhouse previously stood.   4 North Event Center is pleased to welcome you. Weddings, reunions, anniversaries, and birthday celebrations can all be held at the 4 North Event Center, which has four unique spaces. All of the spaces have been completely rebuilt, and there are numerous restrooms and a full caterer's kitchen available. The Creswell, Creamer, Guimarin, Markaverich, and Northridge families collaborated to refurbish the Comanche County square on the north side. Two of the three structures purchased were in a state of decay and were set to be demolished. The two-story building, which had been abandoned for nearly forty years, was in fantastic condition, and the top level was a time capsule of stunning early twentieth-century design. The Knights of Pythias chapter in Comanche County used to be housed in the two-story structure. Rathbone Hall, the main event area, is named after the Knights' founder, Justus H Rathbone. These structures have held local enterprises throughout history, including the Comanche Chief newspaper, an opera house, a hardware store, women's retail fashion, and a drug store. The corner location will be occupied by Stone Eagle Beer Garden, which is set to open in 2017. Wedding receptions, reunions, birthday parties, anniversaries, corporate dinners, quinceaneras, and other events are all held at this premier event facility. Formal décor, newly remodeled, with full caterer's kitchen and bathroom amenities Indoors, there's a formal room with a rock fireplace.
