We connect researchers and visitors with our collection in the Newberry’s reading rooms, exhibition galleries, program spaces, classrooms, and online digital resources. Since its founding in 1887, the Newberry has remained dedicated to deepening our collective understanding of ourselves and the world around us. Holding your event at the Newberry will support our mission of inspiring research, teaching, and learning in the humanities. Nestled just steps from the Magnificent Mile, and across the street from the city’s oldest public park, Washington Square Park, the Newberry Library offers indoor event spaces with various capacities for intimate presentations, performances, formal ceremonies, fundraisers, galas, high-end corporate entertaining, all-day conferences, workshops and trainings, dramatic cocktail receptions, elegant dinner celebrations, and multimedia presentations. Rooms may be combined for greater capacity and for varying program components. The fully restored Lobby is a showstopper. Featuring a Romanesque entryway, distinctive chandeliers, 20-foot ceiling and broad marble staircase (great for photos and a grand entrance) it lends itself beautifully to cocktail receptions and dinner parties. Our largest event space, Ruggles Hall, can accommodate up to 160 guests in a warm and cozy library atmosphere created by its mahogany paneled walls and broad windows overlooking Washington Square Park. For more intimate gatherings, the newly created Rettinger Hall and Baskes Boardroom feature beautiful marble floors and specialty recessed lighting, and are lovely complements to the Newberry’s unique aesthetic.

At Canvas, we bring your masterpiece to life. Canvas is an incredible new 10,000 Sq Ft. venue, inspired by our clients who hoped that they could rent our design headquarters for their special events. Canvas at Yanni Design Studio is an extension of our spectacular showroom that presents our clients with endless possibilities. Canvas features a beautiful backdrop for events, thanks to a stunning new terrace, original brick walls, a wall of windows, and 21-foot ceilings with an array of Canvas signature chandeliers. Choose between an indoor and outdoor celebration: Canvas features magnificent glass doors that open out to a garden, and let in an abundance of natural light. Enjoy your ceremony or cocktails in the terrace, then continue the celebration inside! Furthermore, there’s a private guest suite that can be used for a bridal suite or dressing area.

Bar Parisette is an award-winning restaurant and wine bar on a bustling stretch of Logan Square. We love hosting events, including weddings, in our spacious dining room and bar. Our dining room is large enough to accommodate groups of up to 100 in a semi-private capacity, while the two spaces combined can host up to 165 guests. The space is perfectly suited for events that include multiple elements, such as a cocktail hour followed by a seated dinner, and can be set up to include a wedding ceremony, dance floor, or performance. Our packages include bespoke menus from our culinary and bar teams, as well as service staff, furniture, plates, silverware, glasses, and more. The space features exposed brick, floor to ceiling windows, hardwood floors, vintage lighting, and custom tile. Events include use of our state-of-the-art sound system and wireless microphone. In addition to the indoor spaces, guests have access to our charming 400 square foot sidewalk patio. Redfield Estate combines the beauty of nature and history nestled on the grounds of The Grove Nature Preserve - a 150+ acre National Historic Landmark on Chicago's North Shore. Capacity up to 120 guests May - October, and 50 - 100 guests November - April. Rental rates are $650 - $4,350 + based on date and time. Catering: Choose from eight contracted catering companies to assist you with planning your event, including your menu, bar, service staff, linen, all necessary equipment to produce your event, and complete ceremony and reception setup/breakdown. Full service catering is required at Redfield Estate, averaging $120-$175 + per person in addition to the rental fee. Private rentals include: the Redfield Estate vintage 1920's home with original windows, fireplace and dressing rooms; a covered outdoor pavilion seating up to 120 with dimmable lighting, a stone fireplace, electric window shades, and bistro lights twinkling above in the trees. Manicured grounds with an abundance of seasonally filled urns surround the estate, and a gazebo tucked into the forest is perfect for ceremonies. Tables, chairs, and free parking are included.
