If you're planning a special occasion, the American Airlines CR Smith Museum is an excellent choice. Because it opened its doors in 1993, the CR Smith Museum has provided a vibrant learning environment in which exhibitions and educational activities excite and engage visitors of all ages. Through hands-on, immersive experiences, it contributes to increasing the general public's awareness of commercial aviation, airline operations, and the broader impact of flying and air transportation on our global society. While the Museum's collections, special exhibitions, and educational programs are the primary means by which these subjects are illustrated, the Museum also uses its collections, special exhibitions, and educational programs to educate school children and teens, families, and life-long learners about the science, technology, and history of aviation in general, and the history of aviation in the Dallas/Fort Worth region specifically. History comes to life at the Museum, as do scientific principles that are readily comprehended. It is a superb illustration of why museums have emerged as one of the most successful methods of offering informal education, particularly to kids in pre-kindergarten through grade 12. A powerful social environment for learning and support for schools and teachers as they strive to meet the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) curriculum.
