What was once the first Chinese Opera House on the East Coast now houses contemporary Chinese restaurant, Chinese Tuxedo, and lively cocktail bar, Peachy’s. The split-level space was the headquarters for Chinatown’s notorious Tong wars in the early 1900’s and has been thoughtfully restored, incorporating midcentury touches while retaining historical details such as the original pillars, stripped-down walls and now-sealed secret tunnel entryways. The kitchen executes a flavorful, eclectic Chinese Banquet style menu complemented by inventive cocktails, a dynamic wine list and a selection of Chinese and American craft beers. 5 Doyers Street is comprised of two unique spaces Chinese Tuxedo and Peachy’s. Each venue can be booked separately or together for private events. We host everything from seated dinners to speakeasy-style cocktail parties, or a consider a combination of both to create one beautiful memorable evening for you and your guests.

This speakeasy is located near the Williamsburg bridge with its own separate entrance on South 5th St. The space was renovated for creatives and is now available for your use. Thus, the look of the space is rustic and industrial including art murals and brick walls, and high pipe exposed ceilings. The floor has its original concrete, with small drains throughout. The space lets in very little daylight even during peek hours of sunshine. This allows photo and video work to have total control over the lighting. The space also comes with a multicolored LED light system that allows you to control the vibe through the space. We have a 10 foot long L- bar and small kitchen with fridge for food storage. The space is equipped with a WIFI network, great phone reception for any carrier, a powerful sound system with high quality JBL speakers wired together throughout the space, and a dj booth. All renters can use our hanging ceiling movie screen and projector to stage their own film viewings. Velvet Brooklyn is a cocktail bar and event venue that may be reserved for your special occasion. It is as luxurious as the fabric it is named after. With its exposed brick interior, vintage chandeliers, warm lighting and disco ball, it is the perfect space for an intimate event or a memorable celebration. It is 1,500 sq. ft with a maximum capacity of 110 guests. The interior includes two spacious bar areas, comfortable seating throughout the venue, allowing guests to mingle comfortably. Velvet Brooklyn is an ideal venue for a stylish and fun celebration where guests can dance, enjoy handcrafted cocktails, soak in the vibrant ambience, and share an unforgettable moment with a loved one. You can choose our Velvet Room which can accommodate up to 60 guests, our Main Bar which can accommodate up to 50 guests, or the entire venue for up to 110 guests. Our main floor space accommodates 90 guests seated and 120 guests standing, and is available for buyouts. Both of our floors contain a private bar, sound system, and three individual restrooms. For larger events we are able to open both floors for events and we are able to accommodate 200 guests seated, or 300 guests standing. All of our events come complete with a dedicated staff for the duration of the event to ensure the utmost attention.
