To be honest, referring to Scofflaw as a gin joint is akin to referring to Martin Scorsese as a cameraman. Mrs. Murphy's is a multidimensional establishment that provides pub service, private gatherings, and an imported Irish goods shop. The pub has been offering scratch-made Irish pub favorites, supplemented by a smart choice of craft beers, a welcoming wine list, and a deep range of over 50 Irish whiskeys, since it first opened its doors in September 2005 in Chicago's North Center neighborhood. Mrs. Murphy's provides the warm family welcome that makes a wonderful Irish bar, in addition to superb food, music, and drink. Mrs. Murphy & Sons Irish Bistro first opened its doors on September 2nd, 2005, with a long history of hospitality and community service. Jim Murphy, the late owner of the famed Wrigleyville pub Murphy's Bleachers, dreamed of bringing contemporary Irish cuisine to his homeland. Jim and his wife, Beth, bought a 1920s-era funeral house at 3905 Lincoln Avenue in 2002 with the intention of turning it into a restaurant serving Irish food that was more sophisticated than pub grub. Jim had gathered various antiques over the years, including stained glass windows from the famed German restaurant Zum Deutschen Eck, nautical bric-a-brac, Guinness collectibles, and vintage images of Chicago, to decorate the restaurant. Wood pillars, stained glass, and skylights, all original to the 1920s building, were also included into the design. James is the general manager and resident Cicerone whose enthusiasm and extensive knowledge of beers is shown in the carefully prepared beer list. He is aided by his younger brother, Brian. In the approximately 2,500 square feet of event area, hand carved mahogany and exposed brick create a warm and inviting atmosphere. The walls and light fixtures are adorned with upcycled bourbon barrel scraps. Huge windows flood the space with light and provide a view of Logan Square's lively neighborhood. There's plenty of room for entertainment or presentations with built-in A/V and a stage. The Tap Room, located at 3340 N. Kedzie Ave in the Avondale area, first opened its doors in 2012. Natural light floods in through windows lining the top of the space, which have high 30 foot ceilings. Our brewery's inner workings, including our state-of-the-art canning line, are visible through a floor-to-ceiling glass wall. The Lily Pool features an aesthetically important pavilion, a cascading waterfall, and native vegetation, and was designed by Alfred Caldwell in 1936. The Chicago Park District and the Lincoln Park Conservancy restored the Lily Pool to Caldwell's original design from 1998 to 2002, after decades of erosion and deterioration. The Conservancy is pleased to offer this natural haven as a location for your small wedding ceremony, proposal, or photos. The Lincoln Park Conservancy requires that all wedding, engagement, family, and other professional photos get a permit in advance. From May through mid-October, the Lily Pool holds seasonal events. During the Air and Water Show, it is also closed on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Enter a hidden garden of unparalleled beauty through the Prairie-style Fullerton gate. Only the sound of birdsong and a soothing waterfall breaks the peaceful silence. Discover a pavilion, council ring, and different native flora along the stone walk around the lily pool. A hidden garden for the people of Chicago, created to resemble a river meandering over a vast Midwestern plain, is landscape architect Alfred Caldwell's concept. The Alfred Caldwell Lily Pool was originally part of a Victorian garden that included tropical lilies and other water plants and was created in 1889. The Lily Pool and its surrounding area fell into ruin after the Victorian-style garden fell out of favor, until Alfred Caldwell rebuilt the pool and its surroundings in 1936.

The Irish American Heritage Center is a hidden jewel on the city's northwest side that is ideal for hosting meetings, social events, and group celebrations for both large and small groups. Private events can be held in the full Irish American Heritage Center or in individual rooms for smaller parties. We rent on a daily and hourly basis. In addition, we have two parking areas to accommodate your guests. ERIN ROOM The Erin Room, located on the fourth floor, is a private floor with a private bar, enormous glass windows, and crystal chandeliers. This magnificent area, which is conveniently accessible via our elevator and stairwells, is the ideal location for your wedding, benefit, anniversary, or concert. THE FIFTH PROVINCE HALL The Fifth Province Hall, which is located on the first level, features magnificent architectural aspects such as high ceilings and wooden accents. Because it is directly across the street from our Fifth Province Pub, this is one of our most popular rooms for a traditional Irish wedding. THE CEILI & SHANACHIE ROOMS The Ceili and Shanachie Rooms, both on the first floor of the Center, are ideal for family gatherings, fundraisers, and dance courses. THE MCGINTY ROOM The McGinty Room, on the third level, has an Irish feel to it and features a built-in bar as well as a stage for performance. This space is ideal for your upcoming baptism or communion. THE MAYFAIR THEATER This 658-seat theater is great for your next concert, play, dance performance, movie screening, or recital. ROOM 311 This exquisite space is on the third level and has windows on the west side, allowing natural light to stream in and accentuate the lofty ceilings and opulent embellishments. ROOM 304 These rooms, which are all on the third level, are ideal for small seminars, group meetings, music lessons, and dance classes. THE TARA ROOM The Tara room, a larger event area on the third floor with high ceilings and windows that let in natural light, is ideal for family or corporate events.

Chicago's past and present are told via the use of art galleries located throughout the space. The Club Room is a versatile space that can accommodate small groups of up to 48 people for everything from wine tastings and private parties to cocktail receptions and meals. We have a beautiful library with marble, reclaimed wood and iron accents, towering bookcases, old world billiards lighting, and an enormous 10' foot bespoke table that serves as a pleasant backdrop for many different types of gatherings.
