They all came together in 1993, when Sam Elias, our founder, moved from Florida to Chicago and opened up what the people were demanding: 4,000 square feet to bump cars, slam dunk, cross check, laugh, eat, drink, and simply…have fun. A needed release from the daily 9 to 5 grind and Tuesday bowling night, our first location in Lombard, Illinois was so popular, we opened up another factory of fun near downtown Chicago as well as Vernon Hills. But the people demanded more. So we delivered. To the delight of adrenaline junkies and lovers of unadulterated fun everywhere, we added laser tag arenas with multiple levels, billiards, bowling, and arcade games. The people were now content. But we aren’t! We are always looking to increase the dopamine level in ALL of our guests! Not only can you get your game on with WhirlyBall, bowling, and other games, you can also get your food and drink on with our inventive cocktails, curated craft beer selection, and elevated bar fare from our chef-driven menu. We also encourage our guests to sit back, relax and enjoy sports and entertainment on multiple TV’s located throughout our space for your viewing pleasure!

“Step Away from the Norm and into a Natural Setting!” Dedicated in 1998 and newly remodeled, the Andrew B. Barber & Clarence D. Oberwortmann Horticultural Center, a 12,000 square foot facility, was built adjacently to the Bird Haven Greenhouse. It’s limestone exterior with wooden-beamed entryway and easy access to a charming outdoor-covered deck with patio seating is conducive to the natural surroundings of the 630 acres of Pilcher Park. The Horticultural Center is an ideal rental facility for any special occasion. The spacious main hall, with a capacity of 254 people sit down dining and 299 people reception style, can be subdivided into three smaller rooms to suit smaller sized gatherings. Private Bridal Room is also available. The Center attractively enhances the Bird Haven Greenhouse complex while providing additional space for a rental banquet hall. The Italian Renaissance style greenhouse, which is perfect for wedding ceremonies, features spectacular floral shows with seasonal motifs during the fall, winter, and spring. The Outdoor formal gardens are open June through October. The Bird Haven Greenhouse’s formal gardens are the perfect setting for an outdoor wedding or come inside for an intimate ceremony among the beautiful flowers and greenery. Wandering Tree Estate is a private luxury venue that has been creating lasting memories and fantastic events for over 50 years. Ten acres of gorgeous gardens showcase nature at its glorious best. Everywhere you turn you are surrounded with lush lawns and exquisite landscaping. The famous outdoor Model Railroad Gardens are a fantastic setting for cocktails and hors d'oeuvres. There is even a private Model Railroad Museum displaying the City of Chicago that is available for you and your guests. Photo opportunities are everywhere (check out the four acre private lake, the beautiful Japanese gardens with seven waterfalls and a red bridge, and the lush herbacous border gardens with tropical plants and trees). Unlike many venues, Wandering Tree Estate does not offer any price packages. The maximum number of guests at any single event is 50 seated and standing. The trails around the Center lead to an interpretive nature pond and link to additional preserve trails.
